Emilia - a star we lossed
Emilia was passionate about sports. Ever since she was little, she has been skiing cross-country and downhill, doing orienteering, running, roller skiing, swimming and a lot of other things. She loved to compete, loved being in the forest and mountains, preferably with like-minded people. When she got older, things got more serious. Less play and more elite effort that meant long training sessions and early mornings. Something that Emilia didn't mind. She liked her rituals. Every day, get up at 6:00, go for a 15-20 kilometer run, have breakfast and then go to school or meet friends.
She was selected for the Swedish national team, competed in the trail World Championships in Thailand in 2022, where in her international debut she took a sensational World Championships bronze, which she followed up with a very nice 5th place in tough competition at the World Championships in Innsbruck in 2023.
Due to several hard competitions close together in 2023, her body finally gave out. Her heart rate rose as soon as she started moving, and although she rested from all training for months, it didn't get better. When she couldn't train, she became depressed. The psychiatric clinic gave her little or no help at all.
She was given antidepressants, but this had the opposite effect. On a cold and gray November day, on November 13, 2023, she took her own life.
We will forever miss her deeply, the wounds will never heal.
Emilia was the finest of people with a good heart for everyone, her incredible dedication and love for countless hours of training in nature will always be remembered.
